Ban Hammer KO’s Guild Wars 2 Players
Hundreds of players have taken to Reddit to complain about a recent surge in account bans from Guild Wars 2 developers, ArenaNet. There have been a number of issues that have plagued the game since launch with thousands still waiting for the release of the auction house, while others are struggling with bugged missions and quests.
An exploit that was founded a few days after the official launch allowed players to purchase a large number of weapons for very little Karma points. Doesn’t really sound game-breaking but if you’re aware of some of the features and mechanics within Guild Wars 2, you can see how it would cause problems. Players were able to Scavenge hundreds of weapons for a massive variety of crafting materials, which could either be used to craft or sold. Using this exploit players were able to get a large amount of experience points and gold, without having to put in any real effort.
It’s clear that some abused this system as they earned 20+ levels and 5+ gold, but other players were merely buying enough weapons to have one for each tier, prompting what many see to be undeserved bans. ArenaNet have given people the opportunity to email them with the hopes of getting their accounts restored but as of yet, there’s been no confirmation if this has worked.
