Battle Pirates
Battle Pirates is yet again another RTS game on Facebook for people to play on their off time. Battle Pirates does take the platform seriously though, integrating social aspects that people have come to know and love while at the same time offering an RTS game that is deep and has plenty of systems.
Battle Pirates Review
There are serious social implications to this RTS game. People on your friends list who are already playing the game will show up in your bar at the bottom of the screen. Like farmville the more people you get to play the game the more help you will have in the long run. To get the most out of Battle Pirates you will have to invite a bunch of your friends to join the game. Only after you have recruited your real life friends can you have people join your crew and have officers. People who do not want to have that interaction could be turned off by this aspect of the game.
The RTS part of Battle Pirates is just as filled out as the social aspects of the game. Players have a home base that they constantly manage resources, research and other upgrades. There are four different kinds of resources being Oil, Metal, Energy and Zynthium. Build oil rigs, windmills and other buildings to keep your resources up. You have to be at your base to bank all of the resources though and you can only upgrade one thing at a time. If you happen to have some Facebook money you can use that to get coins and speed up the whole process
The combat is also RTS like. Command several ships and master your fleet to defeat even the strongest of players. Choose which vehicle you want to attack and then click with a reticule on the enemy that you wish to attack. You can move the ships around to get a better vantage point or to attack from a flank. All and all the combat plays like an RTS games.
Fans of the RTS genre should check it out.
