Call of Gods
Call of Gods is a free to play strategy game from popular free to play publishers, Aeria Games, the same development team that offers services for several other popular MMORPG games such as Wolf Team and the recently released Golden Age. Call of Gods hosts a number of familiar MMORTS features such as in-depth character progression and building mechanics and combines them with an innovative approach to combat and character creation, creating one of the most unique online strategy games available.
Call of Gods Review
The first thing you’ll notice when playing Call of Gods is the in-depth approach to character creation. Many online strategy games simply give you the choice of a few avatars, but Call of Gods takes this to the next level. There are three races available to play, Humans, Elves and the Undead, with each race having distinct differences in progression, construction and questing. Each race also has access to two unique classes, offering different abilities and skills as you increase your level.
One of the most interesting aspects to Call of Gods is the unique approach to combat. Similar to other titles in this genre, combat is automated and supported by high-quality animations and character models. Heroes represent the core of your military forces, with each hero progressing through the levels earning experience points by completing quests and defeating monsters. Each hero is able to bring a certain number of units into battle, depending on the hero level. You have the choice of choosing which type of units will represent your hero, such as melee, range or cavalry. Each hero has specific strengths and weaknesses regarding certain units, rewarding tacticians with stat boosts and other bonuses should they choose the correct units. Another way to increase your armies strength is to assign each hero to a slot in your formation. There are dozens of customizable formations to choose from and each spot within each formation offers specific bonuses to certain unit types. This unique approach to strategic combat offers players plenty of distinct attacking techniques while still providing action-based combat.
Another exciting addition to Call of Gods is the streamlined questing system. Unlike other MMORTS games that throw hundreds of mundane quests at you within minutes of starting, Call of Gods integrates an engrossing story into each and every quest, offering players excitement as well as rewards. Arguably the best feature about the questing system is the quest log. At any time during play you can view your quest log which shows every quest available to your current hero, and then offers an automatic walking system to accept or complete the quest. This removes any boring grind from questing and ensures dedicated players can progress without the fear of missing any vital quests or rewards.
