Camelot Unchained Kickstarter Is Now Live
City State Entertainment have just announced that the Kickstarter campaign for their highly anticipated MMORPG game, Camelot Unchained, is now live on the official website. Kickstarter has taken the gaming world by storm in recent years, giving players the opportunity to invest in and support upcoming MMO games that would otherwise not see the light of day.
This latest addition to Kickstarter involves Mark Jacobs, one of the leading minds behind Dark Age of Camelot. DAoC has been heralded as the forefather of today’s PvP mechanics as it was one of the first MMO games to take a serious approach to large-scale PvP combat.
“Camelot Unchained isn’t a game with something for everyone,” said Mark Jacobs. “Instead, we’re aiming it at a niche audience of dedicated RvR-focused MMORPG players. We’ve tried very hard to incorporate our community’s ideas and suggestions into our pledge rewards, even going as far as show the preliminary tiers in order to get feedback before the start of our Kickstarter.”
For once a development company is aiming to please a small portion of dedicated players. Over that of trying to appeal to the masses with yet another cut and paste MMO game based on World of Warcraft mechanics and features.
The Kickstarter campaign will be live for the next 30 days and has a goal of $2 million. If the project is successfully funded Mark Jacobs has vowed to back the game with a further $2 million.
“Our entire team is tremendously excited to launch our Kickstarter campaign,” Jacobs stated. “If it funds, we will know beyond any shadow of doubt that there’s an audience eagerly waiting for the chance to play our type of game.”
