Competitive Gameplay Explodes Into MechWarrior Online
Infinite Game Publishing and Piranha Games have just announced the recent launch a new update for their ultimate mech experience, MechWarrior Online. The new update introduces 8v8 custom matchmaking and a new Hero Mech, Ilya Muromets. There’s also a host of new Christmas items available for your cockpit, including a humorous Santa bobblehead.
“With the new 8-player group vs. group action and ECM, the competitive element in the game has been upped in a major way,” said Bryan Ekman, creative director, Piranha Games. “Blending new content with the rich history of the BattleTech universe, we are excited to introduce Ilya Muramets CTF-IM Cataphract, the first PGI-crafted character, a resilient and balanced Hero Mech representing the Capellan Confederation.”
Following the patch players are now able to team up in groups of 8, a vast improvement on the previous cap of 4, and the new custom game matchmaking won’t be weight class restricted. This drastically reduces the amount of time it takes to jump into battle, giving players the opportunity of entering mech warfare within seconds of creating a group. The next patch, phase three of matchmaking, will introduce additional options including Merc Crop matches and competitive leagues.
