Good: Cultures Online has a lot going for it but the impressive graphics and unique theme are easily two of the most appealing features. If you're bored of the typical orc and elves approach to the MMORTS genre, Cultures Online will be a breath of fresh air.
Bad: In typical MMORTS fashion, Cultures Online biggest drawback are the problems that plague practically every MMO in the genre. Building and training can be slow, and the item mall offers various methods to speed it up.
Cultures Online is a free online strategy game published by Gamigo, the same developed team behind the popular golf simulation MMO Golf Star. There’s no shortage of free to play MMORTS games on the market nowadays, but Cultures Online separates itself from the competition with its unique theme and setting. Instead of your typical military or fantasy theme, Cultures Online pits Americans against Vikings in an intense struggle for control over a newly discovered continent.

Cultures Online wastes no time in impressing its players as one of the games best features is thrown at you as soon as you log in. The graphics. Cultures Online is a browser-based strategy game, which means there’s no length download or subscription, but the graphics are amongst the most impressive you’ll encounter in your internet browser. The environment itself, the buildings and viking units are all represented by high quality models, giving the game a premium feel.
Another area that Cultures Online differs in compared to regular RTS titles is the character creation. Most games nowadays just offer basic avatar creation with very little customization, but Cultures Online features an in-depth class system. Players can select their viking hero and choose to play as a Berserker, Ranger or Warrior, each with different skills and abilities, as well as a unique progression path. The hero acts as the main unit of your viking army and features mechanics similar to those found in popular MMORPG games. You can equip your hero with a variety of weapons and items, building his stats depending on your play style.
The combat is one of the defining features of Cultures Online. Whether you’re into intense PvP, or you like to lay back and enjoy the simple appeal of PvE, it’s all there. Equip your hero with some great gear and then send him off to conquer distance lands, player strongholds or NPC locations.
