Dungeons & Dragons Online
Good: Simply put, Dungeons & Dragons Online is a must play MMORPG title for fans of the pen and paper role-playing game. Featuring decades of detailed lore, characters and locations, the game provides players with an experience true to the massive franchise and is arguably one of the most well constructed MMO games on the market.
Bad: The only real negative aspect to Dungeons & Dragons Online appeared after the transfer to the free to play market. Certain classes, areas and powerful items are only available to those that are willing to spend real money on the game but there's still plenty of content to make it a worthwhile free to play MMORPG.
The franchise that critics say gave birth to the modern MMORPG game, Dungeons & Dragons, is now available as a free to play title in the form of Dungeons & Dragons Online. Originally launching way back in 1974, the Dungeons & Dragons franchise has spawned a huge amount of successful paraphernalia including a large number of books, an animated series, a blockbuster film and a number of video-games. Set in the iconic world of Eberron, Dungeons & Dragons Online includes all of the features you would expect from a large-scale MMORPG game and has the support of over 4 decades worth of detailed characters, lore and locations. Fans of the Dungeons & Dragons franchise have praised the game for sticking so closely with lore, pleasing industry critics and players across the globe.

Dungeons & Dragons Online is home to all of the iconic races you’ve seen in the traditional pen and paper game. Players can choose from 6 distinct races including Human, Elf, Halfling, Dwarf, Warforged and Drow Elf. In traditional MMO style, each race has a variety of different benefits such as higher base stats in particular areas or unique abilities such as being immune to poison. There are other 10 classes available, with certain ones being race restricted. Each class follows typical MMORPG archetypes, melee damage, range damage, healing, tanks and crowd control. Some of the classes are locked unless you pay for them, but there’s still plenty of choice.
Every aspect of Dungeons & Dragons Online follows the traditional pen and paper game, and two of the most iconic systems combat and character customization, are no exceptions. Combat works on dice rolls and abilities, the same way the original title did. Players attack by holding their mouse button and swinging their sword before using the number keys to launch devastating abilities accompanied by high-quality animations. Character customization and progression also follows similar mechanics used in the original game, however it has been simplified as players could spend several days creating the perfect pen and paper build. Much like other MMO titles, characters progress and get stronger by completing quests and defeating monsters. The more experience points you earn, the higher your level. Increasing your level gives you access to a number of stat points that you can distribute freely, as well as unlocking new abilities and gaining access to better equipment.
