Edgeworld Review
Set in on a far off alien world where everyone wants to kill each other, you begin the game in a small patch of land surrounded by wilderness. This stands to be the beginning of your base and it won’t be long until this area begins to fill up with all kinds of weird and wonderful technology. With the surrounding areas being so hostile, you will need to build army barracks to train your soldiers and defensive turrets to keep your base safe and well guarded. You will require research laboratories to ensure you have the latest technology and mines to produce resources for building such things.
Edgeworld works on a real-time basis. This means you need to strategies what is most important to get done. You can also attack other bases to gather extra supplies quicker; however to begin with you can only attack computerized bases. As time goes on, you will eventually be able to attack other player’s bases, which also means they can attack yours, so keep your defense up! It is vital that you consider carefully exactly where you are going to build your defensive turrets as this can be the decider in player vs player battles.
Be sure to send your scout out first to take a look at the other bases. You need to know your enemy and whether they have something worth attacking for. This will also give you a good idea of the defenses they have in place, and whether or not you have the man power to win. You are able to watch these attacks, which is a fantastic part of Edgeworld as it makes you feel really involved in the action.
With the beautifully animated scenery of this sci-fi strategy game it is easy to become drawn in. The ability to have real-time chat with the other players makes Edgeworld fantastically engaging and undeniably social. There are many in-depth missions to participate in and the combat really is the icing on the cake for this game.
