The game is home to a large portion of features and mechanics that you’d expect from a free online MMO title, such as questing and deep character progression, but it also adds more unique aspects such as a highly in-depth pet system and an exciting variety of transformation options.

One of the communities most loved features in Ether Saga Odyssey is the monster transformation system. There are dozens of monsters that players can transform into, but various monster cards must be collected first. Every monster has a small chance to drop a transformation card, they can be purchased from other players, obtained as quest rewards or received after trading in bond points from your pet. Each transformation belongs to a certain monster family. Transforming into a certain monster type will give you a huge advantage over certain other monster families. There are 9 families in all, each with unique strengths and weaknesses against other types. This works in a similar way to Pokemon titles where fire beats water, air beats grass, etc.

Ether Saga Odyssey also includes a highly in-depth pet system that is easily one of the games defining features. Players can collect a huge variety of pets that can both attack and defend to aid you in combat. Each pet is unique in terms of stats, abilities and behavior, but players can have a direct influence on the power of their pet using the merge feature. By merging multiple pets together you can increase the stats of the pet with the final outcome, creating a constantly evolving companion that can be improved a number of times.
