Final Fantasy XIV Auto-Kick Meets Mixed Receptions
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn enjoyed a hugely successful launch despite a number of issues with servers and congestion. Following yesterdays extensive downtime the latest patch has been deployed and includes a number of eagerly awaiting features, most notably the AFK kick timer. The AFK kick timer is a function that automatically removes idle players after 30 minutes of inactivity. This means that if you’re in-game and you’re not actually performing any actions or giving the game any input, you will be kicked after 30 minutes.
This has been put in place to help reduce the problem of queuing times while players wait to log in. Although this feature is one of the most highly requested among the community, it hasn’t gone across as well as hoped. Many forum goers have taken to the official forums to express their concern over the new feature with some even saying they’re entitled to spend 2-3 hours AFK without being kicked from a game they subscribe too every month.
We’ve highlighted one of the more humorous complaints below:
Now I cannot eat my breakfast/lunch and dinner for more than 30 minutes? My family would appreciate if I could enjoy the breakfast/lunch and dinner for more than 30 minutes! Usually I keep myself logged in while I enjoy my sweet break. I know you guys are going to ask why? Because I want to be able to come back and check what my “Free Company” and “LS”, Also, I use the 30 minutes to queue up on the duty finder! I just keep the volume up so If I get a full party.
Whether the individuals are actually upset or just trolling is unclear but it was a much-needed addition to Final Fantasy XIV.
