Heroes of Gaia gives you the opportunity to play one of four unique races, Human, Undead, Elf and Orc, with each race having a variety of buffs, strengths and weaknesses. One of the most distinct features of the races in Heroes of Gaia is that they’re all totally unique in terms of appearance and available buildings and units, in effect, creating four different ways to progress and play through the game. As is traditional in free to play strategy games, Heroes of Gaia lays heavy focus on accumulating resources, with four valuable resources available including Lumber, Ore, Sulfur, Crystal and Gold. In typical RTS fashion, players must construct and upgrade a variety of different buildings in order to accumulate resources each hours.
One of the most loved features of Heroes of Gaia is the advanced hero system. Players are able to recruit a large number of heroes to lead their army, or defend their base, and each hero progresses individually through earning experience points. As heroes increase in level players can spend points in any of the four available stats, Speed, Defense, Intelligence and Attack. Intelligent players will choose certain heroes to fulfill specific roles and level their stats accordingly, as an example, leveling a hero high in speed will allow them to explore the world map at a faster rate, fulfilling the role of a scout. Whereas focusing purely on attack for damage is a great way to level a hero for defensive responsibilities.
