Level with me, Dyann! Really Bioware, didnt even buy us dinner first…?!
Level with me, Dyann! is a blog where I can express my thoughts, ramble, be total fangirl, nerdrage, and whatnot…you know girl stuff. Warning: Its not always wrapped up in a pretty pink bow. Thanks for reading! Dyann Callahan
NOTICE: spoilers past this point, do not read on unless you really want to
know!
Can you abuse us anymore, Bioware? Its like a boyfriend who, when you finally swallow his bull about a dirty deed like the effed up ending of ME3 showing me years of hard work do not matter in the end, that comes up with yet another spotty episode of…but wait theres more.
Yeah , in true capitalist form…no character ever dies when it can be pimped out for more money with a miraculous comeback for yet another sequel. When fans when cut to their knees at the callous end of the “Red Ending” right before the credits run and Shepard is seen gasping for air (just before the seen fades and it is unclear if he lives or dies in a “Total Recall” Mars moment).
~~~~~~ Insert alternative Scoobie Doo ending there~~~~~
BioWare has now officially confirmed/let it slip that Shepard doesn’t actually dieeeeeeeeeee ( its YOUR fault for thinking that, stupid noobs- it was their plan alll along), and they throw out some inkling for future appearances by everyone’s favorite commander in the worst ending upset evah. Somehow, I see Tull slipping on latex gloves to show us Bioware’s Wessonaility when this was posted:
~~~~~ Tully Ackland, Bioware’s own, posted the the following on the game’s official forums:
One of the goals for the Extended Cut, as part of addressing player feedback, was to provide more time with the love interest, and more opportunity for players to say goodbye to them and provide additional moments of connection between them. We did this in several ways:
- Shepard can now actually say goodbye to the love interest when they are split up at the conduit run.
- When Shepard sees flashbacks of important characters during the final decision, the flashbacks are now variable based on your playthrough – so your love interest can appear as one of the flashbacks, providing another moment of reflection between Shepard and that character.
- A memorial scene was added, partly to show a close bond between Shepard and the love interest. The scene is variable, and if Shepard has a love interest in a given playthrough, it will be that character who places Shepard’s name on the memorial wall.
- You may notice that in the “Shepard lives” ending, the love interest hesitates to place Shepard’s name on the wall, and instead looks up as though deep in thought. This is meant to suggest that the love interest is not ready to believe Shepard is dead, and the final scene reveals they are correct. As the Normandy lifts off, there is hope that the love interest and Shepard will again be together.
What next a Brony ending for Conner? I THINK someone owes me some lobster, or at least some Taco Bell!!!

Final say on The Final Hours of Mass Effect 3
Originally Mass Effect 3 endings WERE there says ex-Mass Effect writer Drew Karpyshyn:
“Where the writers intents different for Mass Effect 3? Drew Karpyshynn , the original and now defunct Mass Effect writer revealed originally the intent for the ending included the concept of Dark Energy, which had been hinted at in the previous two games. When? Remember that tali commented on the planet’s sun on Haelstrom during her recruitment mission? She made the note the “planet’s sun was an advanced age for no scientific reason.”
Like MTG Damnation, The Dark Energy was a force that was going to consume everything. According to Karpyshyn, “The Reapers as a whole were ‘nations’ of people who had fused together in the most horrific way possible to help find a way to stop the spread of the Dark Energy. The real reason for the Human Reaper was supposed to be the Reapers saving throw because they had run out of time. Humanity in Mass Effect is supposedly unique because of its genetic diversity and represented the universe’s best chance at stopping Dark Energy’s spread.”
The original choice was between annihilating the Reapers and trying to prevent the Dark Energy threat with what little time was left before it consumed the galaxy, or, “Sacrifice humanity, allowing them to be horrifically processed in hopes that the end result will justify the means.”
Of course….This still doesn’t fly with players as all of the recruitment, all of the alliances, all of the sacrifices, were essentially meaningless in the final resolution.
Thanks BioWare as this actually sounded cool and seriously closure to a trilogy. Not a cheap explanation.” Dyann Callahan
