Mabinogi
Good: There's just so much to do in Mabinogi. There's a massive crafting system, huge amounts of players to interact with, hundreds of quests and a huge variety of exciting mechanics and features available to both new and veteran players.
Bad: The games strongest asset can also be seen as a weakness. A game that has been available for over 8 years is going to fall behind in terms of graphical content and regular updates, but it's still a great title for fans of Nexon MMO's.
Loosely based around Irish Mythology, Mabinogi originally first released in Korea way back in 2004. Since then it has been published in over 10 different countries and has enjoyed a substantial amount of updates. Currently available as a free to play title on Nexon, the story is actually a prequel to another popular Nexon title, Vindictus.
Mabinogi Review
Mabinogi is home to a huge variety of in-depth features and it wastes no time introducing you to them, offering one of the most extensive character creation systems available. There are over 50 different hairstyles and a combined 40 different options for eyes and lips. You can also choose from a large selection of decorative accessories and shoes, all of which can be dyed in a variety of colors, removing the restrictions from typical character creation systems. In Mabinogi, your characters appearance is restricted only by your imagination.
Mabinogi also features a highly popular crafting system that eventually allows players to become totally self-sufficient. Unlike other MMORPG games that restrict the amount of crafts you can use, Mabinogi allows all players to invest time into all the available crafts. Whether you want to gather wood, milk cows, sheer sheep or weave fabrics, by leveling your crafts you’ll eventually be able to make all your own clothes, food, armor and weapons, without relying on other players or the auction house.
Housing systems are common in today’s MMORPG world but very few offer the extensive features and customization options that are available in Mabinogi. Whether you just want a quaint little home to store your gear, or an epic castle, it’s all available in Mabinogi.
A game that has been running successfully for 8 years has got to be doing something right and Mabinogi features dozens more innovative features. Epic boss battles, hidden dungeons that move around the map, intense PvE battles, and NPC relationships are just the tip of the iceberg. If you really want to experience the thrill of Mabinogi, you need to try the game.
