Player versus Player (PvP): No
Player base: Very High
Meez is a free to play virtual world where you can create your very own virtual character to explore a massive game world and interact with over a million other players. The internet is filled with online RPG games, strategy titles and shoot ‘em ups, but there’s very few social games worth playing. Meez offers players a large variety of activities, some of the most in-depth character customization options ever seen and one of the largest communities in a free to play title.
I’m not usually keen on social-based games, I played titles such as Habbo Hotel in my youth, but as you get older the appeal of smashing orcs and goblins with an axe far outweighs chatting to strangers. However, after just a few minutes with Meez it was obvious that these type of games have come a long way in recent years. As the game is a virtual world based around socializing, character creation and personalization plays a huge role and Meez has one of the most in-depth character creation systems I’ve ever come across. There are literally hundreds of items available to personalize your character, over 4000 if you’re willing to shed out some cash, and the variety is just as impressive. Players from all walks of life come to play Meez and the customization options support this brilliantly, whether you’re a die hard baseball fan or a bit of a goth, there’s clothes, accessories and other items to match your personality perfectly.
A highly innovative character creation system would be useless without a game world demonstrating just as much personality but the Meez developers were able to merge the two flawlessly. Just as the game allows you to create characters to fit practically any personality, there’s also a large variety of areas to socialize in. From the quaintly designed buildings of Burbia to the hustling night life of Uptown, you’re sure to find your perfect social spot in Meez.
