MMO Veteran Developers Call For Aid
Some of the most experienced veterans of this MMO generation have been forced to resort to player contributions to work on their next project. If the plans go forward, Squad Wars, will be a space-themed combat shooter that will feature intense dogfight style PvP. Squad Wars won’t meet the requirements to be placed into the MMO category as they’re going to avoid the persistent world approach, opting for a scenario based system instead.
END Games have just set up a project on the widely popular Kickstarter website, a program advertised as the world’s largest platform for the funding of creative projects. They are hoping to reach $250,000 to begin developing Squad Wars, quite a substantial goal considering it’s a team of veteran developers asking the average Joe to fund their game. I wonder if they plan on giving us a share of the profits?
The developers involved at End Games are no strangers to the gaming industry, with many working on highly popular MMO titles such as Rift, League of Legends and the recently closed LEGO universe.
The funding process will continue until May 19th, the deadline given to raise the whopping $250,000. Currently, they’ve just passed the $5,000 mark so they’ve got a long way to go.
