NCSoft And Blizzard Set To Clash With Diablo III – Blade And Soul
Diablo III’s current reign at the top of the gaming charts could be about to come to an end as NCSoft prepare for their upcoming Blade And Soul beta event. Beginning June 21st, players will have the opportunity to test the oriental themed MMORPG from NCSoft, the first opportunity for the general public to enjoy the martial arts based combat system.
Despite the dozens of issues that have plagued Diablo III, such as the delay of the real-money auction house, and the total lack of content, it still remains one of the most games played across the world. Internet cafes in America reported that 20% of their customers used their services to play online games, since the release of Diablo III this number has shot up to 50% with critics suggesting that it’s all thanks to highly anticipated title from Blizzard.
Blade And Soul was opened last Friday to allow pre-order customers to create their character and reserve their names. NCSoft originally opened five servers for the pre-order event, only to be forced to open a total of 13 to accommodate the huge amount of interested players. Over 130,000 players participated in the character creation event, creating over 200,000 unique characters, a very impressive number for a game that has yet to release.
Although the games don’t share many similarities, Diablo III is dominating charts across the globe, a fact which is easily supported by viewing the vast amounts of content on any game related website. NCSoft reported a loss at the end of the last financial year but they wait in hope that their highly anticipated Blade and Soul beta event will generate enough interest to skyrocket the game at launch.
