New Xbox Live Achievement Reward System
Recently the Official Xbox Rewards Twitter posted a new tweet after hitting the 50,000 fan mark announcing that players would soon be able to get rewards based upon their achievement score. This new rewards feature will tie into the current Xbox-Live rewards program already being offered to x-box subscribers, with differing rewards for both gold and silver.
Current Rewards for Gold/Silver Members
This new system will incorporate the earning of rewards via unlocking achievements on any of the devices with them, including the Xbox itself, Games for Windows, and Xbox live within the Windows Phone. Ideally, with this plan to offer some of Microsoft points to those earning achievements, gamers who don’t have a lot of funds will be working harder at what games they have to earn more MS points.
However Microsoft plans to handle this system remains to be seen, as they have been known to flop new features in the past. The Playstation Network tried something like this a few years ago, but only to a limited group of players. It did not last too long as a feature, so hopefully with Microsoft giving it to their entire player base it will become a positive goal for those who do their best to get as many achievements as possible.
All in all, a system that rewards players with new content simply for playing the games they have already bought some more is a system that should work wonders for the community.
