Runescape Player Taken To Court For Stealing Friends Items
A recent report in British newspaper, The Sun, has disclosed information regarding a recent incident in Runescape that has gone to court. 19yr old Keiron Belmont was staying at a friends house but after they had a row he used his friends PC to gain access to her Runescape account and stole all of the gold and items. The teenager was taken to court with the Computer Misuse act of 1990 as the charge, gaining access without permission and making modifications.
The charges against Belmont as almost as hilarious as the punishment. He was ordered to pay £16 in compensation and server 8 months conditional discharge. The in-games item in Runescape aren’t worth any real cash but it has been recorded that certain items have sold for well over $200.
What do you think? Is this simply a waste of time for all involved? An entire court case based on the petty squabble of friends over a video-game, seems a waste of time to me.
