Sony may not be joining in the Reindeer games at E3
With Christmas 2012 supposedly bringing another console war, Sony may not be joining in the Reindeer games. It is not introducing the highly anticipated PlayStation 4 as previously expected at E3.
The PS3 is still solid in sales, while Microsoft and Nintendo’s sales have fallen and need a boost. Microsoft and Nintendo will be introducing the 16-Core CPU Xbox 720 and Wii U at July’s E3, Electronic Entertainment Expo, to set the stage for Christmas. Sony’s France CEO Philippe Cardon announced to the press that they are under no time pressures like the Wii, and he said they will be the last to announce anything in the next-gen console race.
Japan’s Famitsu magazine quotes Sony CEO and former head of PlayStation, Kaz Hirai, with admitting that a 10-year cycle seems to work for them.
Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto, the legendary game designer, already started showing his claws by saying the PlayStation Vita didn’t seem very “strong” to Edge magazine, maybe inferring the 530+ Million dollar loss Nintendo suffered last year, the first ever for this powerhouse, and fingers pointed to the Nintendo 3DS handheld console sales. He backtracked by saying Mario Kart 7 and Kid Icarus: Uprising may have helped by being released with it.
It will be interesting to see the new announcements in consoles for Christmas 2012 at E3!
