Square Enix Disappoint With Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Playstation 3 Beta
The terms Final Fantasy XIV and disappoint have come together all too often in recent months but even with a brand new re-design of game features, we see the two terms come together yet again. After a terribly rocky launch Square Enix took down the original Final Fantasy XIV game, promising to deliver players the experience they deserved with A Realm Reborn.
PC players may have had a good experience, they may have thought the developers fulfilled their promise but I don’t care as I was waiting for the PS3 version. So imagine the excitement shared by thousands as Square Enix released a ton of closed beta keys over the weekend. I got home Sunday evening after a day with the family and was met with that such surprise in my email inbox.
Despite having plans for the rest of the night I jumped through the ridiculous amount of hoops to start the download, expecting the infamous PS3 servers to take days. To my delight the entire game downloaded in a little under 30 minutes and by the time my responsibilities for the day were complete, I was ready to play.
Just my luck, I thought. So I gave it a couple of hours and returned, only to find the same problem. A quick Google search returned no information so I resorted to the official Facebook. Only there did I discover that the Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn closed beta was a weekend exclusive event. So Square Enix sent me a key for the closed beta event with less than 2 hours remaining, a problem thousands of other players have had.
Guess we’ll have to wait until next weekend to see if Square Enix can truly deliver the experience Final Fantasy fans deserve.
