Star Trek Online
Good: There are too many great aspects about Star Trek Online to list in such a small space. It combines all of your favorite features from other top quality MMORPG games, and bundles them into a unique Star Trek themed world.
Bad: The only real drawback to Star Trek Online is the currently limited race list. Players can choose to control either a Federation or Klingon character, with the majority of popular races, such as Borg, still waiting to be implemented.
The first major MMORPG project based on the iconic Star Trek franchise has been a huge success since its original launch in 2010. Originally developed and published by Cryptic Studios as a pay to play MMORPG, it has since been re-released under the watchful eye of Perfect World Entertainment, under a new free to play model. Players can expect to enjoy a variety of exciting MMO features, all wrapped up in decades of the Stark Trek universe.

Following such a successful IP Cryptic Studios had to ensure they were able to balance story with in-depth game play, and they managed it perfectly. The game features episodic content that allows players to explore newly released story lines on a weekly basis. Following various story plots from the Star Trek universe, including the Klingon – Federation war, as well as the Dominion. Players can explore every corner of the Star Trek universe.
One of the most unique features in Star Trek Online is the distinct modes of combat, both space and infantry based. While in space, you control your own customizable spaceship up against a variety of iconic enemy units from the Star Trek IP. You must use your wits and cunning to out outflank your enemies and use your weapons to their strengths, firing torpedo’s lasers and more. The infantry combat is just as in-depth. Command your crew, take them on voyages across the galaxy to explore new worlds. Equip them with futuristic technology and march into MMORPG like battles against a variety of the Federations worst enemies.
Since turning free to play, Star Trek Online has undergone many changes, but playing free doesn’t have to detract from your experience. You can still command your own ship, reach the maximum level and enjoy all of the weekly updates without charge.
