Tropico 4, Gold Edition is a hugely popular island themed city building simulator. Created by Kalypso, The Gold Edition includes Tropico 4 and the “modern times” expansion pack. You are El Presidente, the ruler of a small Caribbean island and you make all the decisions regarding how it is run (with a little help from your trusty adviser Penultimo). You can be a loving empathetic ruler or an evil, power-mad dictator. You must rely on your island’s resources to fund your development, whether this is by farming raw materials, mining valuable ores or, if you are ambitious enough, turning your island into a tourist trap.
Tropico 4 Gold Edition consists of over 30 different missions on various different islands and over 100 unique buildings including a shuttle launch pad, giant Ferris Wheel and new environment friendly wind turbines to power up your island. You need to have what it takes to keep all the 8 factions happy – which is not an easy task! Most factions have their own ideas on how an island will should be run and you must appease all their demands (often when they contradict each other) to avoid being voted out of power (if you allow voting). You will require a foreign office to liaise with the super power countries to ensure you have a good political standing with them so they will support you and ultimately not invade your Caribbean paradise.
