Tyrant Review
Although Tyrant doesn’t share any similarities in terms of theme or setting, the card based combat can feel similar to popular CCG (Collectible card game) titles such as Yugioh and Pokemon. Tyrant is based around players collecting a large variety of military themed combat cards, forming their own deck, and taking it into battle against other players and AI units. There is a huge selection of cards, all of which have their own strengths and weaknesses. You get two lines of combat during a fight, your offensive line and your defensive line, different units are placed on different lines. Offensive units are used to destroy your opponents units, as well as damage the opponents main HP (Hit Points), while your defensive units are your last line protecting your main character from taking any damage. The object of the game is to reduce to opponents HP to zero by destroying both of their lines of combat and then eventually attacking their general.
A lot of the cards have various effects, such as aerial units being extra effective against tanks, and certain vehicles designed for AA (Anti-Aircraft) purposes. This creates for a lot of depth and strategy with players having to make on-the-fly choices depending on the units they have available compared to the units their opponents are using. You’re also given full control over your deck, adding and removing cards as you please, requiring certain tactical knowledge in order to construct a deck that can adapt to any combat situation.
Tyrant offers players both PvE and PvP combat, with the PvE being the main focus. PvE comes in the form of a progressive world map, giving players access to certain missions based on their level. Defeating enemies earns experience points which in turn upgrades your level giving you access to more missions. PvP is simple 1v1 combat set in an arena, players join a queue and are randomly assigned an opponent based on level and deck strength.
Overall, Tyrant offers an in-depth card battling system that’s rare in the MMORPG world. You can expect a huge variety of cards, endless strategic possibilities and high quality images.
