Update 12 Heading To DC Universe Online
Sony Entertainment Online have just announced that the recently delayed Update 12 for their hugely popular superhero MMORPG, DC Universe Online, will launch later today after yesterdays delay to due unforeseen technical difficulties.
DC Universe Online is the first proper MMORPG game that is available on both the PC and PS3. Consoles are trailing way behind in terms of MMO content, lacking any seriously attractive IPs other than less than massively titles such as Call of Duty. DC Universe Online made the transfer to a free to play model earlier this year and has since increased it’s player-base by over 5 times what it was previously.
As such SOE have been pumping out updates at a furious pace to keep up with player demand, although Update 12 is a little thin in terms of content. The only real major improvement is to that of the Shared Bank, a special in-game bank that is shared between characters. They’ve added a new function that will allow players to split stacks of items directly in the bank, instead of the current system that forces players to put it in their inventory first. The rest of the patch was dedicated to a number of technical fixes and improvements effecting grouping, audio and various crashing issues.
Now if only they could fix the issue that causes fifteen minute loading times on the PS3, that would be an achievement.
