Valve Launch New Steam Project “Green Light”
Valve, developers of popular titles such as Portal, have just announced a new feature added to their digital distribution service, Steam. Green Light will give the power to the players in regards to what games they hope to see featured on Steam in the future. Steam has become a worldwide service that provides players with a massive library of games, community discussions and much, much more. This latest feature expands on an already impressive list of abilities by giving both developers and players more say over the future of Steam.
Steam is well known for it’s large selection of games but it also supports the little guy, giving small development companies and indy titles the chance to be seen. The new Green Light service follows this tradition but moves the power over to the hands of the players. There are already over 600 games available on the Green Light service and players can explore the huge list through the Steam client itself.
Each game has a separate page available where players can check out the pleas from various developers, as well as their plans for when the game gets featured. Players can vote on which games they hope to see in future, as well as speak directly with developers through the comments section.
Steam is already the dominant force in digital distribution for video-games, and adding even more power to the players is a great move by Valve.
