Varus got (new) Skills! The Abilities of Varus the Arrow of Retribution
So how do you play Varus?! The best way to play when testing a champion would have to be grabbing a friend and entering into a custom 1v1 and test him out. As the staggeringly massive amount of human fodder to wade through on the Beta PBE server is tragic.
The Abilities of Varus the Arrow of Retribution
Living Vengeance: Varus gains 40% on his attack speed for 6 seconds on a champion kill or assist. He gains 20% attack speed for 3 seconds when it comes to minion kills. Varus’ bow glows red while the minion attack speed bonus is active, and glows purple when the champion bonus is active.
Piercing Arrow: A point targeted pass-through linear skillshot ability in 2 stages (1st Cast)(Q): When Varus starts drawing back for his next shot, a gradual increase of range and damage.
(2nd cast) He Fires, physical damage is dealt, 15% reduction per enemy hit (min. 33%).
Cooldown: 16 / 14 / 12 / 10 / 8 seconds
Cost: 70 / 75 / 80 / 85 / 90 mana
Minimum Damage: 10 / 43 / 77 / 110 / 143 (+1.0 per attack damage)
Maximum Damage: 15 / 65 / 115 / 165 / 215 (+1.6 per attack damage)
GOOD TO NOTE: Varus cannot autoattack or use any abilities while preparing to shoot and he is slowed by 20% in movement speed. When 4 seconds passes, Piercing Arrow will fail but refunds ½ of its mana cost.
When you use Varus’s first cast, you will see the his range circle increase gradually, the 2nd time you cast shoots the arrow. The trick is the longer you cast the harder his hit and the further it goes. Just remember you are slowed 20% when casting in your movement. Just if you are going to use this- be sure to use it!
Blighted Quiver (W)(Passive): Blighted Quiver is a passive ability that grants Varus’ autoattacks an on-hit effect . Varus’s basic attacks deal bonus magic damage and apply Blight for 6 seconds (stacks 3x). His other abilities detonate Blight dealing magic damage equal to a percentage of the target’s maximum health per stack. The damage is capped against monsters though- nice skill ( kind of like Teemos but stacks differently).
On-hit Damage: 10 / 14 / 18 / 22 / 26 (+0.25 per ability power)
Blight Damage per Stack: 2 / 2.75 / 3.5 / 4.25 / 5% (+0.01% per ability power)
GOOD TO NOTE: Varus’s auto-attacks will add a purple circle of around the enemy champion or minions. Once a skill is used on the champion or minion, it will pop and deal magic damage equal to the target’s maximum health per stack.
Hail of Arrows (E): Varus fires a hail of arrows dealing physical damage that desecrates the ground for 4 seconds. Hail of Arrows is a ground targeted area of effect ability.
Desecrated Ground will reduce healing effects by 50% and slows enemy movement speed. Its a AoE slow + Ignite. Which is awesome! It really does damage!
Cost: 80 mana
Cooldown: 18 / 16 / 14 / 12 / 10 seconds
Physical Damage: 65 / 105 / 145 / 185 / 225 (+0.6 per bonus attack damage)
Slow Percentage: 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50%
Chain of Corruption (R): Chain of Corruption is a collision linear skillshot. Varus flings out a tendril of corruption that deals magic damage and immobilizes the first enemy champion hit for 2 seconds.
The corruption then spreads towards nearby uninfected enemy champions- applying the same damage and immobilize if it reaches them. The corruption will continue to spread until there are no further unaffected targets in range. Pretty awesome for when there are running (Like Ash Arrow but not that ridiculously long). Uses a bunch of mana though.
GOOD TO NOTE: It’s a AoE snare if the enemies are standing right next to each other. It will slowly switch targets near the champion and snaring them to place. It burns so good.

Cooldown: 120 / 105 / 90 seconds
Magic Damage: 150 / 250 / 350 (+1.0 per ability power)
