Vindictus Online – Newbies Guide To Fishing
Vindictus Online has one of the most innovative fishing systems ever seen in a free to play online RPG game, but it can be quite confusing for players new to the action-packed title from Nexon. This Vindictus Online – Newbies Guide To Fishing will hopefully clear up a few questions you may have, as well as providing you with some valuable information such as how long it takes for fish to respawn, and why it’s a good idea to go AFK (away from keyboard) on the boat.
Firstly, before you’re able to start fishing you must first get a certain quest from the Mercenary Outpost. Gallagher will give you a quest titled “Let’s Go Fishing” and provide you with a free fishing ticket, usually costing 500 gold. You can then head to the docks and board the boat. To board the boat, you go to the furthest Exploration Board, instead of the Battle Board you usually use to begin typical quests. Once there, you can create your raid group and begin fishing. Note: The more people in your party, the greater the amount of fish in each school that appears, so it never hurts to bring more people along.
Once you’re aboard the boat you’ll need to top up on Harpoons, to do this simply head to the back of the boat and purchase some from the tent, they’re not all that expensive and even catching a couple of fish each spawn easily replaces the gold spent. Once you’ve got your Harpoons you’ll need to wait for a message to appear on your screen “A school of fish has appeared”. It takes between 2 and 4 minutes for a school of fish to spawn and they can come and go within 15 seconds of spawning, so keep on your toes.
Once the fish have spawned search both sides of the boat for dark shadows in the water, you’ll then want to take aim with your Harpoon by pressing the “F” key. The fish will move in one of two ways, they’ll either move parallel alongside the boat, or they’ll head straight for it and go underneath. The parallel moving schools are far easier to catch as you only have to aim a few pixels ahead of them, however, the ones that travel under the boat take far more practice as you have to aim quite a distance in front of them to be able to make the catch.
While fishing, you have a roughly 50% chance to catch a treasure chest and the same amount of chance to catch a fish. The treasure chests usually contain vendor trash but you can get Fishing Tickets and some high level materials if you’re lucky. The fish themselves vary in types and sizes and fish eggs can also be caught, it can be a good source of income for newer players but it is a time consuming activity. If you’re really lucky the Violent Tahtich may spawn with the school of fish, he’s pretty easy to spot as he’s massive compared to the other fish in the school. He’s also much faster so if you see him spawn, be sure to try to catch him first. There is a quest much further down the line, “Monster at Ignacht River”, and he’s required to complete it, so make sure you always keep an eye out whenever you go fishing.
Another bonus to fishing is going AFK. For every hour that you remain on a fishing boat you receive a coveted Seals of Enjoyment, a rare item that can be traded in for Silver Tokens. You also have a very small chance of finding them in the treasure chests but going AFK for an hour is the easiest way to obtain these rare seals.
