War Of The Immortals
War of the Immortals is a free to play MMORPG title from veteran developers at Perfect World Entertainment, the same development team that brought you popular MMORPG titles such as Champions Online and Battle of the Immortals. War of the Immortals takes place on the fantasy world of Motenia, a world constantly sitting on the edge of complete annihilation thanks to the epic struggle between Odin and his rival god, Loki. The historic battle of Ragnarok was not the first, or last, that would plague Motenia but it was the final battle that locked away the two warring gods, leaving humanity to pick up the pieces of their destroyed world.
War of the Immortals Review
Perfect World Entertainment have a bit of a reputation when it comes to character creation and they’ve stuck by it with a huge list of possible classes in War of the Immortals. The available classes are Berzerker, Champions, Duelist, Enchantress, Heretic, Magus, Ranger and Slayer. Each of the eight classes has a variety of interesting moves and abilities at their disposal, and with a maximum level of 105, there’s always a new ability or upgrade on the horizon.
The only aspect of War of the Immortals that offers even more depth than character creation is the extensive pet and mount options. Pets are not merely idle companions that sit by your side, they’re vicious monsters that will fight alongside you until their dieing breath, either that or you forget to feed them and they ignore you when summoned. There’s a huge variety of pets available in the game and each pet type has their own personality. A pets personality governs starting attributes, as well as stat improvements as they level up. Certain pets can also be “melded”, a unique feature that allows the combination of different pets to create a stronger, more unique monster.
You can’t review a Perfect World title without mentioning the PvP and War of the Immortals does not disappoint. War of the Immortals features a number of in-game zones, each of which are categorized into certain PvP areas. Some areas restrict PvP, offering players a safe haven while leveling and a variety of monsters to earn cash and get better equipment. However, other areas of the game are dog-eat-dog, providing no PvP protection whatsoever, creating large-scale, intense PvP fights.
War of the Immortals doesn’t do anything to reinvent the MMORPG game genre but what it does manage to do, it manages to do well. War of the Immortals is a game well worth playing for fans of PvP and pet features.
