Xbox 360 players get to launch the first Snow Elf arrows in the Skyrim DLC “DawnGuard”
A member on the Bethsheda forums let it out of the bag that the first DLC (downloadable content) from Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be contain a focus on crossbows and Snow Elves! This was discovered by some hidden mentions in the latest Skyrim patch- the content was in a working folder named “DLC01″ -there were a few gems such as “Snow Elf Prince,” and a variety of crossbow files with animations.
HMMM Who are the Snow elves? The Ysgramor invaders hunted the Snow Elves almost to extinction at the tail end of the Merethic era. With the race purged, their was a final round up to exterminate the remaining stragglers by the Nords- Battle of the Moesring. The Nords were a fearsome race that cut great furrows in the Snow Elves ranks. The tales tell of the snow churning red down the Moesring slopes.
It seemed the snow elves would perish until the battle was turned by the insurgence of The Snow Prince upon his steed of “pallid white.” His spear and armor radiated from swirling magicka inspiring the remaining snow elves to take heart and rise up and fight.
The Snow Prince was a son of ice and the elements, controlling the harsh snow and great foes fell before him and his stunning steed. The legends speak of a young girl named Finna, whose mother had been slaughtered in the battle by The Snow Prince. In anguish and rage, she hurled her family’s sword from the fallen warrior, and it struck true killing The Snow Prince on contact when it pierced his breastplate.
When the hero fell, so did the spirit of the few Snow Elf soldiers. Those who did not flee were executed. Nords are a sort of take-no-prisoners kind of race.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has no arrows mentioned, and Skyrim does not include any of the same types of crossbows such as the ones reported in the DLC patch. We all know elves need crossbows, so thats the speculation with the file names.
The Patch files are flowing with hints of Vampire feeding animations as well, so get out your garlic! As reported to the International Business Times on April 12, 2012:
“Bethesda Game Studios has been hard at work on creating the first set of game add-ons that will be exclusive to the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft,” the announcement read.
“This additional content will add new quests, locations, features, and much more to the world of ‘Skyrim.’”
When developer Bethesda Game Studios announces the Skyrim DLC date (some speculate it could be next week), players will have to use the Xbox to see if the elf rumors are true, as its exclusive to that platform for the first 30 days. The Microsoft platform also has 2 new add-ons for the The Elder Scrolls V for Xbox 360 players.
The Kinect patch for the MMO role playing game hasn’t had any solid confirmations in release dates, but by mid-May rumors say it will be out. Voice commands in French, Italian, German, and Spanish were released yesterday for Kinect, and its in final testing.
